Foundation

In week 8, Foundation students learnt 6 more colours (purple, black, white, pink, orange and brown) in Japanese. The students continue to practise those words using the original sign language-inspired hand-movements and enjoyed the colour game. It is amazing how naturally our Foundation students can sing the greeting song after many weeks of practice (see the videos below – Please excuse my croaky voice…). To consolidate the knowledge of Japanese colour words, the students worked on the colouring challenge. Congratulations on completing the very first term at school!

Grade 1/2

Grade 1 and 2 students continue to practise the stationery words and the four Hiragana letter sounds and shapes ‘え (e)’, ‘ん(n)’, ‘ぴ(pi)’ and ‘つ(tsu)’. They had an assessment task to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of the target vocabulary and the Hiragana letters. To reinforce their learning, Grade 1/2 students played ‘Balloon Pop!’ game on the target language on the ‘Wordwall’ website. Very well done!

Grade 3/4

During week 8 and 9, grade 3 and 4 students had the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in term 1. They engaged in a written assessment task focussing on the recognition of the target Hiragana letters of the 3 phrases and Kanji numbers for age. To celebrate the end of term, the students played the revision game ‘Balloon Pop!’. Great effort!

Grade 5/6

In week 8, grade 5 and 6 students engaged in the term 1 assessment task and revised their learning. This involved reading and writing the target Hiragana letters and translation of the key phrases. The students also enjoyed playing ‘Balloon Pop!’ game to consolidate their vocabulary and Hiragana reading skills. Excellent effort!
