Health & Physical Education

Foundation: This term, the Foundation students will continue to develop, refine and practise their fundamental motor skills. In order to achieve this, we will start of will small based activities, with the aim to extend these into mini team games and skill practice stations.

In the first two weeks, the students have been fortunate enough to participate in an AFL Auskick clinic where they learnt and practised some of the fundamental skills from the game, handballing, marking, gathering and kicking.

As a part of their health task for this term, the students will learn about how the body can feel different emotions. They will represent the different types of emotions using emoji pictures.

Level 1-2: The level 1-2 students will continue to develop, refine and practice their fundamental motor skills this term. This will be achieved through individual, partner and group practise. We will extend their learning to incorporate these skills and movements into specific sports such as Basketball, AFL, T-Ball and Athletics.

As a part of their health task for this term the grade one students will learn about the importance of being a good sport and the positive things that come from being a good sportsman.

The level two students will continue to focus on the body. They will learn about the body’s main organs and the roles they play.

Level 3-4: The level 3-4 students will participate in an Athletics track and field program for part of this term in preparation for the District Athletics Carnival in Term Three. This is also a great opportunity to provide all students with exposure to the different events that constitute Athletics. Within these lessons they will be asked to call upon both their fine and gross motor skills to enable them to produce the required movements such as running, jumping and throwing.

For the second part of the term, the students will be participating in a four week golf program which will aim to improve their striking ability and hand eye coordination. This program will be delivered by an external coach.

As a part of their health task, the level 3-4 students will learn about the bodies different bones and muscles and the importance they serve in everyday life.

Level 5-6: The level 5-6 students will participate in an Athletics track and field program for part of this term in preparation for the District Athletics Carnival in Term Three. For the second part of the term, the students will be participating in a four week golf program which will aim to improve their striking ability and hand eye coordination. This program will be delivered by an external coach.
