THANK YOU

Both Mrs Woollard and Miss Humphries would like to say a big thank you to all families in the Year Five and Six level. It has been such a rewarding term where we have been able to investigate and research many areas of the curriculum. We hope you all have an amazing holiday and are able to spend quality family time together.

INQUIRY

During Term One our students have been investigating the Human Body. These are the essential questions we focused on during our class lessons and Home Learning Tasks:

What are cells?

What do human need to live?

Where do we source the things we need to live?

How has this changed over time?

How does our environment impact on our survival?

How do humans change as they age?

How can we keep our bodies in a healthy state?

The Portfolio task that our students worked on and completed was a Non-fiction text book. With the focus on Non-fiction features, this Learning Task was completed during both Writing sessions and Inquiry Sessions.  The students books will be presented in there Semester One Portfolio.

Working in Year Five and Six.

To finish the term off, all our students have been busy working on and completing Portfolio Tasks that link to the curriculum taught. In Maths, students completed a Task board linked to the four operations, writing worded problems and showing us their ability to solve the equations. In Reading, our students used the text Storm Boy to complete a Venn diagram comparing the text and the movie and they made character connections to our 3 school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. During Writing, we all wrote a free choice Narrative with the learning intention focused towards the ability to plan, draft and edit their own work. Finally, for Inquiry the students completed a Non-fiction text book link the Human Body.

Well done to every student for the hard work they have delivered in the final weeks of the term. Here are a few working photos:
