Huaibei No 1 High School 20th Anniversary Visit

Tuesday 6th to Saturday 10th August

This year marks the 20th anniversary of our sister school relationship!

On August 6th our special guests from Huaibei No. 1 High School will arrive at Melbourne Airport to commence their annual visit to Northcote High School. This visiting delegation of 4 staff, including Principal Ma Ying, and 20 students will bring the number of such visits to 20, marking the 20th Anniversary of our very strong and valued sister school relationship, further cementing and celebrating our long and rich exchange. We are looking forward to discussions on the future direction of our relationship.

Over their weeklong stay in Melbourne our guests will enjoy a full, fun and culturally rich program. Our guests are always very appreciative of the warm hospitality our Northcote High School Homestay families offer to the students.  Student guests very much enjoy their Australian home life experiences with their NHS homestay buddies. The school is very grateful to our families for being on board and to be such an important part of the long lasting Chinese sister school program over many years. We hope the experience and cultural understanding gained is positive and rewarding for our families too.

Highlights of this year’s Sister School visit will include: homestay experiences with our local families, classroom immersion, visiting the Melbourne Zoo and Aquarium, a joint student concert and local food experiences.

In November of this year we have 20 students and 2 staff members participating in the Victorian Young Leaders to China Program for 5 weeks where they will have the opportunity to gain more cultural understanding and language immersion opportunities of our sister school country. In addition, the Northcote High School Music Delegation will travel to Huaibei No.1 High School in March of 2020.  We know they will receive a very warm welcome too.

If you are interested in hosting one of our sister school students for the 4 nights – Tuesday 6th to Saturday morning of the 10th August, we would love to hear from you.
