Book Week in the John Cain Library

Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together celebrating Book Week. The CBCA Book of the Year Awards are announced each year on the third Friday in August. Book Week commences the following day.

During the week of August 19-23 the John Cain Library will be celebrating Book Week with a number of activities. The Book Week theme in 2019 is Reading is My Secret Power. Stay tuned for more details in the next newsletter.

The John Cain Library Great Book Swap

The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, and raise much-needed funds for remote communities. This year the Indigenous Literacy Foundations aims to raise $350,000 to gift 35,000 new, carefully-chosen books to children who need them the most.

On August 22 the John Cain Library is holding a Great Book Swap. A variety of books will be available for a gold coin donation.

We are currently accepting good quality book donations for the swap. Please leave donations with library staff.

Financial donations can be made at our fundraising page:
