The Year 7 Beginners Instrumental Program offers Year 7 students the opportunity to learn a brass, woodwind or string instrument as part of the classroom music experience. Students receive expert tuition and guidance from our specialist instrumental staff in a small group setting. Students learn to read, count and play basic notes, rhythms and pieces in a stimulating and supportive musical environment alongside their peers.

Students learn correct instrument posture, instrument hold, instrument care and technical foundations to prepare them for future growth in their instrument of choice.

The Year 7 Beginners Instrumental Program offers families a unique instrumental music learning experience with specialist musicians at a highly subsidised rate. The program is an ideal introduction to learning a brass, woodwind or string instrument, and is specifically designed to identify and nurture musical aptitude and interest in Year 7 students. All students in the Year 7 Beginners Instrumental Program also learn to play percussion and classroom music instruments. Please note, this program does not offer individual music lessons, but small group and ensemble tuition. Individual tuition is available as an additional supplementary Co-curricular option on parental request.

Year 6 Beginners Band Program

Like the Year 7 Beginners Program, the Year 6 Beginners Program offers students group tuition with specialist tutors within class time as part of their classroom music experience. This program offers tuition in flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and euphonium.

Year 4 Beginner Strings Program

The Year 4 Beginner Strings Program offers tuition in violin, viola and cello. Tuition is provided in an ensemble setting with specialist tutors as part of classroom music.

Tuition fees

The Year 7 Beginners Instrumental Program, the Year 6 Beginner Band Program and the Year 4 Beginner  String Program are not mandatory. These are opt-in programs. Each program attracts a tuition fee of $180 per term. Students who enrol require an instrument, which can be hired from the College for $55 per term.
