da Vinci Decathlon

Last week the College hosted the Riverina da Vinci Decathlon as an online competition. This team academic competition consists of 10 extremely challenging tasks, including cartography, art and poetry, mathematics, and code breaking, that have to be completed in one day. We welcomed six schools from the region to the competition, bringing with them over 150 students.

We are very proud of the effort our teams put into preparing for the competition, as well as their positive attitude and determination to complete the tasks on the day. It was impressive to see each member of each team working together to answer the tasks.

Congratulations to our teams for their achievement on the days:

Chess

The College Chess team played Wagga Wagga High School this week in the Country Secondary Schools Competition. The team consisted of Brandon Collins, Owen Ranby, Charlie Dore and Teddy Leah. The boys played quite strategic games but were also faced with experienced opposition. Congratulations to the team for winning three of the games, with the fourth game an nail-biting tie.

The Interhouse Chess Competition is continuing to be played each Thursday lunch in the library. The leading students in each group are Jack Julian, Brandon Collins, Jaiden Cherian, Hudson Crofts, Teddy Leah, Charlie Dore and Hansa Rathnayake. There are three rounds remaining until the finals series begins.
