Please do not make plans this weekend as your son will be required to play rugby on that day.

Football

Congratulations to all teams on a successful start to the ISA season.  It was great to see so many teams successful on the weekend, but most importantly the sportsmanship and spirit in which games were played.

Results 1 May 2021

Please see attached the DRAFT remainder of the season draw.  Please note that it only indicates the home and away, not times.  Within the ISA competition, schools only provide details of their fixtures to other schools on the Tuesday prior to the game so we are unable to publish any further detail.  Please also note that the home and away schedule may change at any time. Please check the Woodchatta each Wednesday for the most up to date times and venues.

This weekend sees the majority of teams away against Oakhill.  Venues can be found at the following locations:

Wentworth Park (Inside the dog track): Wattle St Ultimo.

Hermann and Lawrence Oval: Old Northern Rd, Castle Hill

Week 4 training: There is no training on Monday 10/5 due to Year 12 Parent teacher interviews. On Wednesday 12/5; Year 8 students need their sneakers for futsul, and Year 10 students need house shirts for House cup.

Good luck to all teams this weekend.

From the Football Supporters' Club

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the SPX Football Supporters Club (FSC) are cancelling the social event scheduled for this coming Saturday 8 May 2021 evening.

The Lindfield Football Club advised us that their Club facility will not be available to host the event this coming weekend.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience to your family social schedules.

The SPX FSC will aim to re-schedule this event for later in the 2021 SPX football season.

Wishing you all the best for the 2021 SPX football season ahead.

Mrs Cathy Thomson - For the SPX Football Supporters Club

ISA Tennis

Last weekend we saw most of our teams play their first round of the winter competition. It was a tough opening the season with four of our five playing teams competing against the tough opposition of St Patrick’s College and one against St Pauls Grammar School. Congratulations to our First Five, who played hard and came away victorious. Well done to our new Captain – Victor Lahoud – who led the team to a decisive win. Our other teams all played well but didn’t come away with wins.

Please remember that the new tennis shirt is available in our uniform shop, which is to be worn with navy shorts to our Saturday matches.

The draw for this weekend is below. We are at several different venues so please check the details carefully. If there any issues with transport please let me know as soon as possible so that we can make car pool arrangements.

Winter Squash

St Pius X Squash teams commenced their 2021 winter season in a most positive manner. Our firsts began their encounter with Knox with a marathon match at the number 3 position, Ben Christensen (Yr 12) defeated in a very tight 5 set match. Despite a solid 3-0 win at number one by Luke Massa (Yr 12), were narrowly defeated.

The seconds tried hard, however must put in some serious training to improve on their start. Liam Kinna (Yr 12) and Reuben Cuasay (Yr 12) played well to notch up a victory for the thirds. SPX 4 also commenced the season with a great team victory. SPX teams 5, 6 and 7 displayed some nerves with many playing their first competitive matches and will benefit from the experience next round. Well done to Ben Buono (Yr 8) of SPX 7 who won 3-0.

The draw for the entire Winter Squash Season has now been made available for players to prioritise their upcoming commitments.

Cross-Country

Training has resumed and  will continue on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at Beauchamp Park, Chatswood. A reminder that we now commence at 7.15 am as we ramp up towards the pointy end of the season. Students who cannot make the early start should still arrive when they can and join in.

Only 2 weeks of training until the ISA Event.
