Parking and Pickup Issues

Parking at the front of the College

Please be aware that Farrer Road in front of the College is now a no parking zone. Some parents have been choosing to pick up students or park on Farrer Road. It is now marked with a solid yellow line. Disobeying this “No Stopping restriction” can result in a fine of $257, or a fine of $330 and two demerit points in a school zone. Please use the designated Parent Pickup Area.

Police officers have been seen at the front of the College this week enforcing this restriction

Parent Pickup Area

A practice has been witnessed of students running across two lanes of moving traffic to get into parked cars. The cars are heading east waiting to enter the parent pickup queue inside the College grounds. This has resulted in a few near misses and is something we would like stopped to prevent the possibility of major accident.

As always, your cooperation is appreciated.

COVID-19 Vaccination Information

The Department of Health have developed several easy to read COVID-19 vaccine fact sheets.

From February 22, 2021, the first batch of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines were sent out across Australia and the first group of people were able to take part in the vaccination process. There is a lot of information about choosing to have the vaccine now available online.

There are 10 Easy Read fact sheets. As some people with disability will be part of the first group to receive the vaccine, it’s important that information about the vaccination is clear and easy to understand

Each Easy Read fact sheet explains a different topic about the vaccine. Breaking up the information into simple topics, and answering key questions makes this content easier for the community to read and understand. The fact sheets cover:

  • An overview of the COVID-19 vaccine
  • What is it? Is it safe?
  • Who will get the vaccine?
  • Where can you get the vaccine?
  • The Pfizer vaccine
  • Getting ready for the vaccination
  • What to expect when you have your vaccination
  • Giving your consent
  • After your vaccination
  • Other information.

Check out the Easy Read fact sheets on the Department of Health’s website.

Year 7 Camp - Howmans Gap

Year 7 students enjoyed their camp this week at Howmans Gap, where they participated in activities designed around the theme of the camp focus 'resilience'.

Principal's Assembly

Students and staff across the Secondary School and in a smaller part, the Junior School have participated in our inaugural Fox House Day.  A mufti day with the theme of Summer Days - no one has let the heavy rain dampen the mood! The day included fundraising for Sisters Housing, House Wars at Assembly, BBQ lunch and lunchtime games.

Thank you to Belinda McMahon from Sisters Housing for speaking to our Secondary School students about the service they provide. Thank you also to Fox House Captains George and Lachlan, Junior School Leadership Team and Head of Fox House Mrs Passlow for all their work to make this day happen.

House Wars run by Mrs Liakatos and Year 12 involved masked dancers from each House - 2 Year 12 students and 1 teacher. Mentor Groups guessed who the masked dancers were by voting online. Students and staff were asked to guess who the masked dancers might be before the big reveal.

We witnessed the presentation to Principal, Mr Humble of the Byrnes Shield from our winning cricket team. The House Champion of the 2021 Swimming Carnival was also announced with Browning House the overall winner. Sheppard came in second and new House, Willsher third.

Clean up Australia Day

On Friday 5th March, the College participated in Clean Up Australia Day. Working with WWCC, we were provided with biodegradable bags and appropriate gloves so we were well-equipped to clean the College grounds.

Over 50 secondary students gathered during lunch to be involved, earning points for their House in the process. It was very close, but the winning House, by one point on the day was Stanley!

The overall results were – Stanley 1st, Blackwell and Willsher 2nd, Sheppard 3rd, Browning 4th, Fox 5th.

We would like to congratulate everyone involved! The College grounds looked amazing afterwards and we are now encouraged to keep it up and to keep our College and Country clean.
