Well-being at GGLPS

It is essential that all students in the school feel safe and know that they belong to a supportive and caring environment. Well-being in a broad sense to us incorporates behaviour management, programs to support students socially and emotionally and the development of strategies to act responsibly and aid learning. You are encouraged to discuss these ideas and strategies with your children to reinforce what is happening at school.

The Wellbeing Room

At P & F the other night I was asked how the Wellbeing Room was going. With the help of the P&F last year we were able to put some amazing things into the room. Over the past 18 months, the room has changed its look inside, the resources we have, and also how we use and station the room.

The wellbeing room has many uses and it is being heavily used throughout the day. Some of the uses include:

  • A place where students can go to start the day getting ready to enter the classroom if they are not feeling ok;
  • Restorative conversations with staff and other students when conflict occurs between students;
  • A place to have a break when needed;
  • A place to chill, play a game or just chat.

Certain times of the day are also set aside for students to take breaks in the room. If needed, teachers make contact with Jason, Jayne, or myself to take students over to the room.

We are certainly very grateful for the room and I know many of our students who use the room absolutely love it.
