From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have enjoyed a really exciting few weeks at Golden Grove: our Middle of Term Breakfast with hot cross buns was a successful morning and linked in well with our current focus on Lent, leading up to Easter.

Our students have enjoyed a range of excursions, with Year 1 and 2 have travelled to Uleybury and Tea Tree Gully Museum, Years 3 and 4 to the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre and Years 5 and 6 to Lobethal.

Last Friday was a wonderful day; we celebrated Harmony Day, embracing the multicultural diversity in our school, and it was amazing to see the great range of different nationalities and cultures on display. It is very special to have such a diverse mix at Golden Grove that interrelates so well. Our thanks go to Mrs Zadow, our teachers and LSO's for all of the work that they put into the day to ensure it all went successfully.

It was also a pleasure to see so many school families visiting last week for parent-teacher interviews: watching how productive those conversations were; hearing about how well the students have started the year with the great focus upon; and an understanding of each child that our teachers have.

This week, some students from Years 3-6 have been working together to attempt the Bebras Computational thinking challenge. In this challenge, students work online in small groups and engage with a range of problems, ranging in difficulty, to develop their collaborative, creative and critical thinking skills. We have also had students enjoying the first Maths Olympiad for the year, which is unique in its focus on the students' capacity to solve mathematical problems in a creative manner. It has been great to see our children engaging their God-given problem-solving abilities and completing these challenges with a growth mindset.

We are looking forward to the P & F welcome BBQ and Picnic on Friday 26 March, and then marking Easter next week with a Chapel Service on Maundy Thursday. We will also enjoy our Sports Day in the last week of term on Wednesday 7 April.

Blessings,

Will
