GIORNATA INTERNAZIONALE DELLA DONNA- IWD 2021

On Monday, 8th March, we celebrated International Women's Day (IWD) to commemorate the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women on a global scale.

In Italy, "LA GIORNATA INTERNAZIONALE DELLA DONNA" is a big deal and everywhere in the country, events, protests, gatherings, celebrations take place to bring the attention to many issues related to young girls and women.

In the Italian culture, the flower symbol of this special day is the wattle, called MIMOSA, which is offered among women as a sign of respect and support.

Many Italian women are or have been inspirational for generations, sharing their talents and passions and leading the charge for change, each in their own way.

Maria Montessori, Bebe Vio, Artemisia Gentileschi, Samantha Cristoforetti, Lella Lombardi, Maria Spelterini are some brilliant examples of female role models, amazing women whose grit and talent guided them to achieve outstanding goals.

Have you ever seen these books, titled " Good night stories for rebel girls",  in some bookshops? Perhaps you own one or maybe you are reading it right now!

Did you know that the female authors of these bestselling- internationally acclaimed books are Italian? Their names are Francesca Cavallo and Elena Favilli.  All three texts are powerful and moving, written specifically for young readers to discover and learn 300 tales of remarkable girls and women who revolutionized the world.
