Fit 2 Drive

Year 11 Road Safety Program

On Friday the 12th of February the Year 11 cohort participated in the Fit 2 Drive Workshop.

The Fit 2 Drive program is a road safety program which partners with VicRoads, Victoria Police & Fire Rescue Victoria to inform students about the risk. Throughout the morning, students learned about possible issues that young people face when driving. From there students participated in some roleplaying activities about how to avoid dangerous situations.

The next portion of the workshop looked at the crash statistics involving young drivers & their overrepresentation in accidents. Finally, students learned about a case study involving young people who were involved in a crash.

After the workshop students were asked: What was the best part of the workshop?

-‘It teaches you the importance of safe driving & what to do in situations you are not comfortable in.’

- ‘The videos showed how much a difference travelling 5km/h slower makes.’

- ‘It was the section where we were given pictures of situations and we had to describe what we would do in the situation.’

It was an important workshop which helped students develop safe driving strategies and habits for the future.
