Assistant Principals' Report

March 2021

2021 Student Leadership

Early in the term the Principal team and other members of staff interviewed the potential leaders of the school. This year we continued with the round table process allowing students an opportunity to discuss and give us their thoughts on how the school is going in the classroom and outside the classroom, these discussions were thought provoking and gave us an insight into what the journey would look like. The leadership team that we have chosen is a fantastic mix of of students that will make 2021 an amazing and productive year. Next Wednesday we have the pleasure of having the 2021 Student Leaders induction at the college. Invitations have been sent to Parents of our 2021 Student Leaders via Compass email, we ask parents of the Leaders to  Please click here to RSVP by no later than 11am on Tuesday 9th March.

Step up and Clean up Australia Day

On the 7th March it is Clean up Australia Day. So, at Greensborough College we have decided that we would spread the clean up all week and have one-year level at a time to clean up areas around the school. This has seen a fantastic and positive response from students in the effort to clean up Australia. Next year we are hoping to expand the clean up by venturing into the local areas. Well done to all the students involved for and for showing great pride in our school.

International Women’s Day

On Monday 8th March we celebrate International Women’s day. This is an important day that needs to be acknowledged. Please have a read of the article written by Jacqueline Melia who is part of our Positive Climate for learning team.

Year 9 ASPIRE DAY

ASPIRE Day is coming up on Thursday, March 11. This is a new initiative we have decided to run with Year 9 parents and students with a view to:

  • Improving student engagement at Year 9
  • Ensuring students and parents are aware of student’s growth patterns in literacy and numeracy and considering how their growth might be improved through setting goals
  • Ensuring that students and parents are informed about the Morrisby Careers Process at Year 9 and English or Maths tutoring supports, if applicable.

We will have ASPIRE meetings with parents running from 8am to 12:30pm and 4pm to 5pm. The meetings will be conducted by the Leadership Team and Sub-school Staff. Parents will need to book a time to attend through COMPASS and students will come out of class at that time.

Year 9 MORRISBY ASSESSMENT

Thursday, March 11 is going to be a busy day as it is also the day that we have been allocated to do the Morrisby testing with Year 9 students.

  • Year 9 classes will end at 12.30pm- students will get an earlier lunch.

Students will return to classes in the MP building to be met by their CONNECT teacher who will facilitate the Morrisby Testing from 1.10pm-3.10pm.
