The Year 9 Self-Select Mathematics class has made a flying start to the new school year and are making great progress as they move through Term 1. Students in this class were selected, based upon their commitment to their studies and their dedication to aim for personal growth in their academic achievement.
The year started with the class working through the new topic of Trigonometry, where they have completed a range of tasks to build up their understanding of ideas which had a series of real-world applications. One of these tasks involved a practical lesson where they set about calculating the height of a range of structures from a distance (buildings, flagpoles, trees…etc) by using their newly acquired Trigonometry skills and items of surveying equipment.
Currently the class is working on organisation for their overnight Sydney excursion, which will take place at the end of Week 2 of Term 2. This excursion will take in University visits and museum visits as well as investigations of some unique buildings and experiences around Sydney.
All students in this class are to be congratulated for the positive manner in which they have commenced the year and for their ongoing dedication to their studies.
The Year 12 Advanced Mathematics class has been very focused in class during Term 1 as they develop their understanding of some of the more complex mathematical concepts in this challenging course.
They are working hard to achieve their desired ATAR results, in order to keep their post-school options as open as possible.
This small but dedicated class recently completed their next assessment task which covered the topics of Calculus and Algebra.
