Last term, on 25th March, the Epping Secondary College debating team participated in the first round of debating for 2021. It was a pleasure to host many other schools from the region at Epping Secondary College.

Abby Midgley, Cody Ryan and Ira Alyanna Samson took on the speaker roles for the debate. Benjamin Latimer and Nathaniel O’Sullivan also attended on the night to support their fellow teammates. Jordan Pungatara, Jermaine Pungatara and Ellie McLauchlan also supported in the planning stages of the debate. The team did an amazing job winning the debate! The debaters were praised for their sophisticated public speaking abilities and Abby Midgley won best speaker of the debate!

The next debate is on Thursday, 6th May and will be hosted here at Epping Secondary College. The topic is ‘Should animal testing be banned’ and our team is debating on the affirmative side. The debaters have been busy brainstorming and preparing arguments during our weekly lunch time meetings and are looking forward to participating in the next debate.
