Foundation Spotlight

Foundation Spotlight

Not very long ago we said goodbye to long lazy days and ice creams on the beach and said hello to our first day of school!

With full lunchboxes, fresh uniforms and wide smiles, the children took each moment of their first few days in their stride.

Initially, Foundation students had many wonderings about how school worked. For example; where to put bags, what the bells mean, how to get to the toilets, when they would go to library and when they would meet their buddies! They also wondered about the new space in the school’s Old Hall and were delighted to find out that it was just for them to explore.

Our first few weeks have been filled with new friendships, exploring the playground with buddies and the new classrooms. The home corner, supermarket and building zone in the hall have been of particular interest to many of the students. Students have also relished chances to learn new games, such as mini-golf during Exploration and scrambled eggs during Maths.

The Foundation children are now equipped with their own reading folder and diary and are eager to share their books with their families, taking their first steps towards learning to read.

Thank you again to our parent community for preparing your children so wonderfully for their first experience of school. We are looking forward to an amazing term with this fantastic group of children.
