New Home Readers

Our students were very excited to help unpack some new home readers, which were purchased using the money raised from last year’s Mango Fundraiser. FPS now has two different types of home readers: Little Learners Love Literacy decodable books and the Australian PM take-home readers.

The Little Learners Love Literacy decodable books are based on phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in spoken words. It involves the important skills of segmenting (breaking words into sounds) and blending (blending sounds together to make words) and is purely oral. 

The Australian PM take-home readers have both fiction and non-fiction genres and feature an increasingly complex vocabulary, a range of literacy devices and sentence structures, a wide range of text types and subject-specific vocabulary. 

These new readers will be distributed and available to take home in the coming week.
