Year 7 Camp

Due to the Circuit Breaker Lockdown that took place from the 13th to the 17th of February we had to postpone the Year 7 Camp. This has now been re-booked and all being well, our Year 7s will attend camp from Monday May 3rd to Wednesday May 5th.  Thank you to Mr Harry Potter and Ms Lisa Williams who worked hard with the camp site to negotiate this date.

Swimming Carnival

Despite the cold and the rain our Swimming Carnival held on the 8th of March was a huge success with a great turn from our students.  It was great to see students dress in their house colors displaying their house spirit. Students conducted themselves respectfully and in line with our values and the high expectations we had of ourselves and each other.  As I write this, the results have not been confirmed, but everyone is a winner when we have such a great turn out and participation from our students and staff. I look forward to the House Athletics later this year.

Special 2020 Year 12 Assembly

On March 1st we invited back some of our 2020 Year 12 students and their families, who faced enormous challenges last year, but with perseverance, determination and hard work achieved excellent results.  We took the time in front of all our Senior Students to celebrate and acknowledge their achievements and award them well-deserved scholarships.

We are extremely proud of our students and their achievements.  The year 2020 brought with it many challenges and during these difficult times these young people demonstrated resilience and a ‘can do’ attitude that will hold them in good stead as they enter the next phase of their lives.  It was great way to celebrate our 2020 year 12s and we wish them all the very best.

Open Night:

Our annual Open night is scheduled for Tuesday 30th of March (last week of term)   and we look forward to welcoming prospective parents to our school and showcasing what we have to offer.  The evening will begin at 6:30pm, with general welcome and speeches highlighting key programs and will be attended by most of our staff and a significant number of our students, including our student leaders.  Following the initial welcome, attendees will engage in guided tours showcasing the many opportunities available to young people at Lyndhurst Secondary College.  We will be asking all families to register prior to the night due to COVID regulations and requirement to have a record of all attendees.

Yard Duty Supervision Reminder

Please be advised that schoolyard supervision occurs at the following times:

Before school, from 8:30am – 9:00 am; for the duration of recess and lunchtime; and after school from 3:00pm – 3:20pm (bus supervision stops at 3:30pm). Note that on the last day of each term, due to a shortened day, after school supervision begins at 2:30pm (dismissal time) and ends at 3:00 pm.

School crossing guards commence duty at 2:30pm each school day of the year.

Art Competition

We are once again partnering with Lynbrook Village to provide students the opportunity to participate in a community Art Competition. The theme this year is ‘a touch of blue’ and the deadline for entries is Friday 26th March. Due to last year’s lockdown and cancelled competition, students who submitted a piece can re-enter the same piece this year if they choose or submit something new.  28 entries will be shortlisted and hung in Lynbrook Village shopping centre for a public vote.  Following this, a celebration lunch will take place, date to be confirmed.  I look forward to seeing our talented student’s artwork.

School Holidays

The last day of the school term is Thursday 1st of April.  The school day will finish at 2:30pm and the office will be closed at 3:30 pm on that day.  As this is the last newsletter for Term 1, we wish everyone, in advance, a safe and restful holiday.  We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday 19th of April, for the start of term 2.
