‘Romeo & Juliet’ Year 9 Drama
On Thursday March 18, the fabulous Year 9 Drama class performed selected scenes from Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet in front of an enraptured group of students from Year 7. The performance was a culmination of a number of workshops undertaken enthusiastically by the class, delving into such aspects as, swordfighting, stage blocking, history and how to read the text for meaning, rhythm and understanding. The Year 7 class came away thoroughly entertained while the Year 9s showed themselves to be engaging performers with a deep understanding of their scenes.

In Focus
Recently I was asked if I could photograph our Principal and the college captains for some upcoming promotional material. While I was flattered at the suggestion, my thoughts quickly jumped to some of my brilliant senior media students. Who, in my opinion would be far better placed and equipped to capture this important material.
I spoke with Estefan of year 11 who had recently shared his passion for photography and some of his outstanding work. I asked Estefan if he would be interested in taking some professional photos for the school. At first he was a bit hesitant, but agreed after my offer of hauling all the gear.
Estefan demonstrated his skill and professionalism as we directed the captains and Mr. Russell on the steps of the B wing. It was great to see one of our students working in an area of their passion with such dedication and commitment.
It was only natural that when I was approached by Mr. Sanders to nominate any students interested in sport photography, I did not hesitate to suggest Estefan as well as Katerina to continue to support students getting involved in our school community.
Keep your eyes open for Estefan’s work on the school website soon.
