Year 12 Annual Pancake Breakfast

In the last week of Term 2, a Year 12 Pancake Breakfast was held to celebrate the end of exams and the end of their final ‘Term 2’ ever! It was great to see students spending time together and enjoying the delicious pancakes. Big thanks to the Year 12 students that helped prepare and cook the pancakes.

I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday and I look forward to working with the Year 12’s for what is really their last term of school’.

VCAL Building Community Relationships Project

Over the last two weeks of term, the Senior VCAL students have been part of a Building Community Relationships project through their Personal Skill Development class. The VCAL students have been visiting the Doncaster Primary School Prep students, where they have been organising physical activities to engage the primary school students and to further strengthen the relationship between the schools.

The VCAL students worked in groups during their Personal Skill Development classes to research and plan activities that would be fun, engaging and suitable for primary school-aged children to participate in.  Everyone involved reaped benefits from the two sessions that we've facilitated so far, with additional activities in the pipeline for the future. Our VCAL students were able to develop their planning, teamwork and relationship building skills in the community.

Recipe 4 Change Initiative

Yesterday a few VCAL staff were invited to Recipe 4 Change,  an initiative of the Rowville Community Centre, where meals are prepared and served by TAFE students completing courses in Food Handling and Catering.

Two of the Senior VCAL Students Stephanie W. and Georgia H. from 12S are completing their Certificate 3 in Catering there.  The girls were on duty to serve delicious heart-warming dishes for the annual Winter Lunch. Stephanie and Georgia are in their second year with Recipe 4 Change. Many residents and community leaders who attended the lunch were able to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, whilst sharing a delightful meal prepared by the students.
