The MGSC Podcasts were developed by former students Katherine Powell and Georgia Higgins. Below is their story. 

Off Air Media is a startup communications business run by former MGSC students Georgia Higgins and Katherine Powell.

Katherine and Georgia attended Mentone Girls' from Year 7 to 12, where they got their first taste of media production and haven’t looked back. Georgia was even awarded the Media award at their VCE Art and Design Show.

After graduating in 2013, both went on to study media at Swinburne University, where they developed their passion for broadcasting in both community radio and television at Channel 31.

In 2017 their podcast “Reality Check” qualified in the national top ten of Nova FM’s PodQuest competition. The following year they were nominated for the 2018 Australian Podcast awards in the ‘Host of the Year’ category, which encouraged their love of podcasting and the creation of Off Air Media.

Katherine and Georgia will be continuing their work on the Mentone Girls’ Secondary College Podcast in 2019, and are very excited to be back working where they first found their passion for media.
