Principal News

To all the CSPS teachers and teaching staff

School Council would like to thank you for the seamless way you have moved from on site teaching and learning to remote.  This would not have been an easy task but the quality and speed of which this occurred is admirable.  We know that all new things take time for adjustments and improvements, of which we are impressed beyond words.

You have been heroic and hard-working amidst the panic, confusion and political debates.  You have quietly continued to carry out one of, if not the most important job in society; educating our children.

We know you are appreciative of the individual levels of support students and families need, and are catering for such.

Please keep up the terrific job you are doing.

Staff accessibility online

As we now move into more of a remote learning routine, it is timely to remind families of the following:

  • Teachers scheduled time of work is 8.45 - 3.45pm  (Note:  some teachers are 'scheduling' work to go live at 8.30am so families can familiarise with content before the day begins).
  • If a parent asks a question before or after working hours, teachers will reply within 24 - 36 hours (Note:  It is appreciated that some families may go online after hours to ask questions, or provide feedback related to their child's learning.  We urge families to not place staff in a position where an instant reply is implied).
  • Staff are strongly encouraged NOT to communicate outside of these hours, to ensure a self check on their own wellbeing.
  • If a matter is urgent, parents are to email their teacher per a request for a return phone call; within 24 - 36 hours.

During the school day, a friendly reminder that if a member of the public, including students, enters the school grounds, you will be asked to exit.  The school grounds may be used after hours, in alignment with the Victorian Premiers restrictions

ANZAC Day Wreath awardees

I would like to thank the large number of students and families who paid homage to our fallen soldiers through art, cake decorating and nature craft.

Congratulations to Violet and Charlie G. for their beautiful ANZAC nature floral representation.  A special mention also goes to Chloe B. for her creative ANZAC wreath cake.

As promised, I delivered a special box of ANZAC cookies for the students (and an additional Tim Tam packet for the parents) to the their homes to thank them for their contribution.

Thank you to our School captains Marlie W.  and Ruby G. for their lovely poem readings and acknowledgement which was accessible through COMPASS and the Facebook page.

School Concert cancellation

New Term 4 idea to be decided

Unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the School Concert at Frankston Arts Centre in Term 3.

This should not be too much of a surprise to the CSPS community, considering the current state of play with COVID, but disappointing to say the least.

Discussions as to what a Term 4 event (at school) could already look like is underway; with an integral role played by the 2020 Year 6 students.

CSPS has already tentatively booked Frankston Arts Centre for Term 3, 2021.

Visitors Policy

School Council has recently ratified the updated CSPS Visitors Policy on Wednesday 6th May.  It is a DET requirement to bring this Policy to the attention of the school community.  The purpose of the Visitors Policy is to provide a safe and secure learning and teaching environment for students and staff by establishing processes to monitor and manage visitors to Cranbourne South Primary School.  This includes:

  • Sign in procedure
  • Requirements for visitors to produce a valid Working with Children Check card
  • Invited speakers and presenters
  • Parent visitors
  • Other visitors

For further information refer to the CSPS website.

MSP Photography delivery

We have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to arrange delivery of the school photographs prior to Mothers Day.  Unfortunately due to a variety of COVID related circumstances this was NOT possible.   We will be in touch as soon as we have a precise date of delivery to arrange a Kiss and Go zone pick up at school.
