Performing Arts & Music

Exciting Times Ahead!

There is very exciting news in Performing Arts! Loch Primary School has been accepted to participate in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, to be held on September 15th at Hisense Arena in Melbourne. The show is filmed by Channel 7 and televised in December. Places in the spectacular are highly sought after by many schools and we are very fortunate to have been recognised in this way. Mrs Birnie will be training some very keen senior school boys and girls to be part of the massed choir. Mr Birnie will be driving a mini bus to take our group to each of four city rehearsals before the big day.

Our two school choirs have also begun rehearsing in earnest. Junior Choir (Years 2, 3 and 4) meets at recess every Monday and Senior Choir (Years 5 & 6) rehearses at lunch time, also every Monday. This week we began to learn two original songs, The Loch School Song (words reprinted below) and Loch Anzacs, in preparation for the Loch Anzac Day service where both choirs will combine to perform. The choirs are also enjoying the song 'This is Me' from The Greatest Showman, which will feature in our school production later in the year. There is still time to join the choirs as new members are always welcome. After senior choir, some students elected to stay a little longer to learn to play the recorder. The squeaks are gradually turning into lovely clear sounds as these students practice their correct finger positions.

Loch School Song

At Loch we are a team, where every child is known

Safe to follow dreams, we each can call our own

At Loch the people care, and show us they believe

In challenge that prepares, and inspires us to achieve

At Loch we show respect, for everybody’s needs

Empowered to expect, that we can all succeed

Based on the school motto;

Dream, Achieve, Succeed,

Every child known, safe, inspired, challenged, empowered
