SUSTAINABILITY NEWS &  GARDENING FUN

Gardening Fun!

Hi everyone! It was so exciting to see that the seeds we sowed 2 weeks ago have sprouted! The radish seeds are growing fast! We learned how to very gently separate and replant our calendula seedlings further apart and how to stake a tomato plant. There are lots of baby tomatoes already! The silverbeet we planted is also thriving! We are learning lots of skills like how to take responsibility for turning on and off the water pump and how to care for the gardening tools and to use them safely.

National Ride (or Walk or Catch Public Transport) Day is coming up on Friday 23rd March.

We encourage you to leave the car at home and ride, walk, or catch public transport to school and help reduce pollution from cars on the road! If you live too far away, you can do this for part of the way! We will join more than 350,000 students across Australia who will ride, walk, scoot and skate to school.

Nude Food Day every Thursday

And the winner for Week 3 is 3/4TR!

Well done to all students who participated in Nude Food Day this week. Year3/4TR had the most participants with 15 rubbish free lunches, followed closely by Prep CD with 10.

Some yummy ideas - a sandwich/wrap/roll, pasta with vegetables, soup, frittata or sushi, a fruit or vegetable snack, such as whole fruit, cut up veggie sticks, fruit or savoury kebab or a small salad.

There is a great booklet of ideas here
