Principal's News

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Good afternoon parents,

I hope you have had a good week.

Lent

What will you do or give up this Lent?

This important time in the Church’s calendar asks us to reflect on the needs of our brothers and sisters, and to be thankful to God for all the things we are lucky to have in our lives. We are reminded of those who do not have access to basic needs such as water, shelter, medicine and education, and we should think about the ways that we can act in service to them.

As we prepare to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus during Easter, let us do so with hope, now and for all future generations.

School Photos

If your child was absent for this year's photo day, you are invited to visit School Pic during the school holidays and your child can have an individual photo. Please ring School Pics directly to make a time- ph no 1300766055.

Masks when entering the school building

All visitors to the school, including parents are required to wear a mask when entering the buildings.

Working Bee

We will be having our first working bee for the year on Saturday 7 May. 8 am-12pm. All the family is invited and you can arrive and and leave any time during this time slot.We have a large number of projects to complete and need as many hands to help as we can get.

Lunch & Play time

This is just a reminder that lunch is now at 10.45 am and the children will eat their roll/sandwich/wrap at this time. This will fuel them for the next 2 hours of learning. Snack time is at 1.35 pm and then the children have one hour before going home where they can have afternoon tea.

As mentioned in the last 3 newsletters before the end of the 2021, the change to the eating and play times is to maximise our learning time. Students have a 2 hour uninterrupted learning block after having a good breakfast. They then will have lunch and a good run around. They then return to the classroom and have another 2 hours of uninterrupted learning. The children then have a snack and another shorter time to run around before going into school for the last hour. This change to the timetable also supports our sun smart policy.

I am working with the canteen so they can supply the lunch orders at the earlier time.

Cross Country training

We will be starting Cross Country training next Thursday morning 17 March. All students in grades 3-6 who are interested in training for the school's cross country are invited to meet at the front of the hall at 7.50 am. Mrs Stefanec, Mr Wood and myself will take the children on the cross country course, along the bike track. An operoo will be sent out with a map of the track and a permission form the parents to sign.

Swimming Squad Training

Huge congratulations to all of our amazing swimming team and to those students who made it through to the Division Swimming Carnival.  The competition takes place on Monday the 21 March at the Oakleigh Swimming Pool.

For next week we are continuing to offer early training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday morning at the Toby Haenen pool for those students who are interested. The sessions will commence at 7am.
