Principal's Message

Good afternoon parents & carers,

What an exciting week we have been involved in throughout Week 8 of Term 1.

The week commenced with a beautiful K-10 Student Leadership Induction Mass, where our School Captains and Prefects, Student Leadership Council, and House Captains were formally introduced to the school learning community.  It was truly wonderful to come together as a whole school to celebrate this special event.  Thank you to Mr King and the School Band for their musical contributions throughout the Mass, making it a very special event for all involved.

A number of our Year 9 & 10 students have been involved in a Moree Community Project "Illuminate" this week, where they have been asked to identify, research and present a Youth Community Initiative to a panel of experts for consideration.  Our students have demonstrated high levels of communication, collaboration, and problem solving throughout the week as they have responded to the many challenges presented to them. Congratulations to those students for their high level of engagement and commitment to this unique opportunity.

The school was a hive of activity on Wednesday for School Photo day.  Thank you to our parent community for sending your children to school in the correct school uniform for the photos.  A very big thank you to Mrs Della Barnes for the ensuring the day ran smoothly.  Coordinating nearly 380 students and 60 staff is no easy task, however, Mrs Barnes (with the support of the Admin Team)  were able to coordinate the day with minimal impact on student learning.

Today, Friday 18 March our Year 7 - 10 students were involved in a special Moree Youth Forum, conducted at the SHEA Academy.  The purpose of the forum is for our young people to come together, grow connections, come up with ideas and make plans for what our young people want to see for Moree and learn new skills on how to make change.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with community leaders and share their 'voice' concerning youth initiatives in Moree.

Have a happy and safe weekend.

God bless

Mr Jamie McDowall

Principal
