'Loving Shrove Tuesday'
'Loving Shrove Tuesday'

Today we celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the beginning of Lent, a time when we start our preparation for Easter.

May we use this time to get ready for the most important Christian event of the year – the death of Jesus and His rising from the dead.

A very special thank you to the staff at Sacred Heart for once again providing a very authentic learning experience for our children. As we enjoy pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, may we think of the many people who have produced the ingredients we will use. May Jesus protect the farmers and their animals who work to provide this food for us. Let us remember how lucky we are to have plenty of food and may we always be mindful of people who suffer famine and hunger.

In preparation for tomorrow’s Ash Wednesday Mass and Liturgy, we burnt our promises in a brief burning of the ashes ceremony. Our Year 5 and Year 6 students will attend the 10:00am Ash Wednesday Mass at St Mary’s and for the Foundation - Year 4 students a Ash Wednesday Liturgy will take place at school.

For dust you  are and to dust you shall return. Genesis 3:19 Lent calls us to detach ourselves from the things of this world and empty ourselves, so that we might be filled instead with God's “breath of life”
