Principal’s Message

Mrs Kath Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

It's been another productive week at Sacred Heart School. Thank you to the parents and loved ones who came to our Friday assembly at the end of last week. It is fantastic to have friends and families back in the school to celebrate and share the successes of our students. Assemblies commence at 2:30pm and conclude at 2:45pm.

Thank you to all of our families for supporting our diocesan fundraiser to assist the schools of the Lismore Diocese as they look to re-establish their schools following the recent devastating floods. As a school we raised $173.00. I wish to thank Mrs Roseby and the SRC who sold the cupcakes and to the student leadership team for collecting the funds raised. This was a great opportunity for the student leadership groups to demonstrate their team work skills.

This week our K-2 class will be visiting the preschool to share their fantastic reading skills with our preschool friends. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to share their knowledge and love of reading with others. A note will be sent to parents via Compass.

This Tuesday 15 March will see the commencement of the enrolment process with St Mary's College in Gunnedah. For students who are in Year 6 this year, a parent information night will be held in the St Xavier's hall commmencing at 6pm. This information session will provide parents and students with an introduction to the school as well as an opportunity for a school tour.

On Wednesday  16 March we will be sharing Mass with our Sacred Heart Parish commencing at 12:30pm at the church. All parents and carer's are most welcome to attend. Students who are participating in the mass will be notified today.

Parent/Teacher interviews will be held this Tuesday 15 March during the day from 9:30am until 2:30pm. Please log on to Compass to book an interview time for your child.  If there are any queries please contact the school.

Our 2023 Transition to School program will be commencing at the beginning of Term 2. This term we will host three events for parents and new students to attend. We will be begin with an Open Morning on Wednesday 23 March, from 9am - 10am, where parents and children will be able to see how Kindergarten at Sacred Heart School works. On Wednesday 30 March we will be holding a Transition Information session for parents from 9am-9:30am to discuss the program and how it will work for this year.  Wednesday 6 April will be our Easter Hat Parade with our students here at school as well as our transition students for this year. The parade will commence at 9:30am and please bring your best decorated hat!

If you know of anyone intending to enrol for 2023 please encourage them to contact me at the school.

As the term continues please remember that if you have any concerns, queries or questions don't hesitate to make contact with us and we can help you out. Our mission is to ensure that we can support students to feel safe, valued, cared for and respected so they can continue to be happy and engaged learners.

Take care
