Hi, my name is Jensen, and my name is Xander and on Monday we raced at District Swimming. We both raced in the freestyle relay and medley relay. I (Jensen) won freestyle, and I (Xander) won in backstroke. This was our last primary school swimming competition. We both were excited and nervous to race with all the people cheering us on. There were three people from our school that made it to divisionals. It was really exciting to see classmates from our school racing against other people from different schools. Thanks to the teachers who helped with Swim Squad training and at District Swimming.

On Monday the 7th  of March, Twenty-two OLA students went to the Cheltenham district swimming carnival at Mentone Grammar. We versed lots of schools and we  were all super nervous but in the end we had a lot of fun and swam really well but only some lucky people went through to the Division Carnival. I was one of them! The Division Carnival will be held on Monday the 21 of March at Oakleigh Aquatic Centre.

Also a huge thank you to Mr B, Mrs Thompson and Mrs Arthur without you this would not be happening!

When we found out we got into Districts we were super excited, and we couldn’t wait to go! On Monday morning we were nervous to swim even though we knew we would do great. When we arrived we sat down and waited for all the schools to arrive. Once all the other seven schools came, we started to get unchanged and walk to the pool to warm up.

In the girls U10s relay OLA came second. We were so happy to achieve this result in this event! After all the races OLA did great and some people even got into Division a step further into Districts. After that everyone started to get changed once their races were finished. Soon after that the medley relay started and the swimmers were flying through the water. When the medley relay was over, everyone started to pack up and head to the buses to go back to school.

It was such a fun experience to be back at districts, the races were so much fun and we couldn’t wait to try out for next year's District Swimming. Today we enjoyed being there at Districts because we were just there to have lots of fun!

Today we learnt that it's ok to be nervous and to have butterflies in your stomach, it is also ok to not come top three, but all that matters is to try your very best.

We were so grateful for this opportunity to represent OLA at Districts this year.
