Mathematics in S34

S34 have been focusing strongly on Whole Number, particularly place value, factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers and index notation.  Students have been interacting in Number Talks, open-ended learning tasks and ZPD activities.

Reading in S34

S34 have worked very hard so far this year on developing their Literature Circle roles.  Each week, they rotate their roles and apply them to their group’s Literature Circle novel by responding and working through the individual role’s Success Criteria.  The roles are then presented to their Literature Circle group where they reflect on their learning and celebrate success. 

Ebony from Green group: 

“I like that we all have different opinions and we can get together and talk about them in our groups.”

Allegra from Green group: 

“I like reading and sharing my ideas with the group.  I like that every week we change roles.  It’s different from Reciprocal Reading because it’s more challenging.”

Cooper from Yellow group: 

“Everyone does really good reading.  Sometimes our group reads aloud.  I like that we get to read heaps in our Literature Circle.”

Class Mission Statement 

It is the mission of S34 to create a safe, honest and happy learning space, where we collaborate and have fun.  We will set ourselves up for success to increase our learning and improve by staying focused.
