The Star of the Month Awards

In Term One we went to meet with Jake, the cafe owner of Jake and the Beans Talk. We discussed the idea of his cafe continuing to support Solway for our Star of the Month award. These awards are given to students who are demonstrating kindness within the Solway community. The SRC (Student Representative Council) nominates students they have seen demonstrating kindness, then the SRC captains and School Captains choose two deserving winners.  

Jake was keen to support it, and has given us vouchers to his cafe for the students who get ‘Star of the Month’.

When we went to the cafe and got to have milkshakes, they were amazing! The staff there are kind and friendly and the cafe is always popular. They have delicious food such as pancakes with ice cream, poached eggs on toast, ham and cheese croissants and amazing drinks. Our personal favorite is the egg and bacon roll, the caramelized bacon is to die for! The cafe has an amazing location. It’s across the road from the park on Waverley Road. He supports Solway and helps us spread kindness through our community. You should definitely head to Jake and the Beans Talk and treat yourself to a feast.

Our May Stars of the Month

Lottie B - 4B

For being kind to everyone she interacts with on a daily basis. Lottie consistently makes sure that her peers are alright, and takes the time to check in on them during the day. She also helps students in the yard who have been hurt, helping them with their injuries and taking them to first aid.

Saam S - Prep D

For always demonstrating kindness and a positive attitude. Saam consistently smiles at his peers when walking past them. This happiness and positivity is infectious, and people who he interacts with cannot help but smile back.
