From the Dean of Curriculum

Dear BMGS Community,

Welcome to Term 2 Week 4! As we dive into this busy period, I’d like to highlight the importance of exploring post-school opportunities. Term 2 is an exciting time for students to engage in activities that will shape their future paths. Here are some key opportunities and events to look out for:

  • The Careers Assembly was held on Wednesday with our Australian Defence Force guest speakers.

  • Subject Selection for Years 8 and 10: Choosing the right subjects is crucial for academic success and future career options. In the coming weeks, students in Years 8 and 10 will have the chance to select their subjects for the following year. We encourage parents and students to have open discussions and consider various factors, such as interests, aptitude, and long-term goals. We are all available to provide guidance and answer any questions.

  • Work Experience for Year 10: Work experience is a valuable opportunity for Year 10 students to gain real-world insights into potential careers. We encourage students to actively seek placements aligned with their interests, as this experience can help them make informed decisions about their future pathways.

  • Early Entry Applications to University for Year 12: For our Year 12 students, it's time to start considering their options for tertiary education. Many universities offer early entry programs that allow students to secure a place before their final exams. These applications usually require students to demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership skills, and extracurricular involvement. Many Year 12 students have already received offers from Charles Sturt University this week! Congratulations to all of those students!

  • BMGS Careers School Expo on 30th May: We are excited to announce the BMGS Careers School Expo, which will be held on the 30th of May. This event is an excellent opportunity for students to explore a wide range of career options, speak with industry professionals, and gain valuable insights into different fields. We encourage parents to attend the session allocated to your child’s year group.

As always, our school is committed to supporting students in their post-school journey. I am available to provide guidance, resources, and assistance throughout the term. We encourage parents and students to take advantage of these services and make informed decisions about their future pathways.

We wish all students a productive and fulfilling term ahead.

Let's embrace the opportunities that await us and take important steps towards shaping our future.
