Students are required to wear school uniform at school, while travelling to and from school, and when engaged in school activities out of school hours. School uniforms promote a sense of belonging for students and create a positive identity for our school community. They also contribute to the personal safety of students by allowing easier recognition of students inside the school and in the community.
All the items of school uniform are available from
It was a vibrant and bustling day as our high school opened its doors to welcome Year 5 students from our neighbouring primary schools for our Open Day. The taster lessons from the various faculties highlighted the vibrant energy of our school community. Friendly student SRC members assisted as guides, leading eager visitors through various classrooms, and activities. The young visitors participated in engaging lessons from English to food technology given by our enthusiastic teachers. They also had the opportunity to meet their future Year Advisers, experience life as a Merrylands High School student for the day and gain insights into the school’s ethos and values. As the Open Day ended, the hall echoed with conversations between the primary students and a sense of anticipation for when they join us in two years’ time.
Our library served as a meeting place for meaningful conversations and valuable insights during the parent-teacher interviews for our senior students earlier this term. The event provided a vital opportunity for parents, carers and teachers to come together and discuss the progress, achievements, and areas of growth for each student. The open and constructive dialogues fostered a collaborative approach towards supporting our seniors on their educational journey. Through these interviews, parents and carers gained valuable insights into their child’s academic performance, while teachers were able to share personalised feedback for the continued growth and success for our year 11 and 12 students.
As we head into the mid-year term break, it is really important for students to come to school every single day, unless they are sick.
We understand that students and families are ready for the term break but being at school every day boosts student learning and confidence and helps them build and maintain friendships.
Planned travel should only be taken during term breaks and students should be at school every day during school term, right from beginning to end.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up. Every day matters and we are here to support all students in attending and engaging with their learning every day of the term.
We’re developing a plan for NSW public education and we want to hear from parents and carers.
The draft plan sets aspirations for every learner and has been informed by our teachers, school leaders, education partners and others in our education community, and their experiences working with students across the state.
We invite you to have your say by filling out this short survey.
The survey will be open for 3 weeks, closing on 3 August, 2023.
There will also be a series of focus group sessions for parents and carers, and to target children of all ages. Your contribution and feedback will help shape public education’s future.
