What's Happening Around SH?

Workshop Wonders

With the new building being completed, the Men’s Shed program has been on hold for term 1. However, this term we have begun again with a new name and new students - Workshop Wonders! With the support of the Tatura Men’s Shed, four Gr. 5/6 students have been busy learning new skills, meeting new people and using their creative sides to build a birdhouse. Once this project is completed, students will be able to make something of their own choosing and so far the ideas are amazing! Hint: woof woof, flute flute, waddle waddle and brmmm brmmm!

Gorgeous Gardens

A new learning and sustainable garden has been in the pipeworks for quite some time and finally a staged process has begun! Some Gr. 1/2 students have been helping Emily to renovate the chook shed in the last few weeks, to get it ready for the new chickens that have hatched in the Gr. 3/4 rooms! There were lots of old pots and containers, rocks, leaves and dead branches that needed cleaning out. Students worked very hard to clear the entire chook area and are now ready to begin evening out the soil, pulling down the chook shed and re-positioning it in a better spot that will provide sun in Winter and shade in Summer. Keep up the great work! If you know of any funding/grant opportunities, please let Emily know.

Bike Bros

Mr Nilbett has been sharing his passion this term - bikes! Some very lucky Gr. 3/4 students have been learning how to service their bikes, fix punctures and planning for having a go at learning a few advanced riding skills in the coming weeks. They are doing a fantastic job at listening really well, having a go at something new and taking it in turns. Great work everyone!
