Principal's Message

Dear Brigidine College Community,

I hope this message finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As we approach the end of May, I wanted to provide an update on the recent happenings at our College. We have had a busy few weeks both inside and outside the classroom, with several remarkable events and achievements to share.

Firstly, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the mothers and grandmothers who joined us for the memorable Mother's Mass and Breakfast. Your presence made the occasion truly special as we celebrated the immeasurable role that mothers play in our lives. We are inspired by your love and dedication to your families, and it was a joy to come together as a community to honour and appreciate you.

I would also like to extend a warm thank you to the parents who attended the Year 8 & 9 Parent Evening, "Sip, Snack & Socialise." The event was filled with laughter, genuine connections, and a strong sense of community. The spirited music provided by our talented College music group, Lateens, set the perfect mood for the evening, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. Your active participation made the event truly memorable, and it was a pleasure to connect with each and every one of you.

Furthermore, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Year 10 families who attended the Stage 6 Information Evening. The event provided valuable insights into the courses to be studied in Years 11 and 12, and it was wonderful to see your enthusiasm and curiosity as you interacted with our dedicated Heads of Department.

In terms of extracurricular activities, our students have excelled in various pursuits. Our Junior and Senior TheatreSports Teams participated in the TheatreSports competition for the first time and demonstrated remarkable talent, creativity, adaptability, and improvisation abilities. They showcased true Brigidine spirit and made us proud.

Our Dance Teams, Jazz and Hip Hop, participated in the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Dance Eisteddfod and delivered captivating performances. The Jazz team secured the top spot, while the Hip Hop team earned an impressive third position. Their dedication and artistry were commendable, and we applaud their achievements.

Additionally, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students had the incredible opportunity to perform at the Allianz Stadium during the pre-game NRL entertainment. They represented our College and their cultures with dedication and showcased their rich traditions to a vast audience. We extend our gratitude to South Care's and the NRL for providing this exceptional platform.

Our vocal groups also participated in the SCS Eisteddfod, with the a cappella choir securing first place, and the Chant Group being notably recognised with an Encouragement Award. Both groups showcased their exceptional talent and dedication to musical excellence.

Beyond these achievements, our students continue to explore opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. Recently, a group of students participated in the SCS Year 9 & 10 Evangelisation Day, delving deeper into their faith and discovering ways to embody and share the love of Christ with others.

We also had the pleasure of joining with Marcellin College to host Dr. Wayne Warburton, who spoke about Screen Addiction, a topic of increasing concern in our digitally connected world. The informative presentation provided valuable insights on managing screen time in a healthy and balanced way.

Thank you for your unwavering support, active participation, and continued engagement in our College community. Your partnership means the world to us as we nurture and educate the wonderful young minds entrusted to our care.

Wishing you a month filled with joy, growth, and meaningful connections.

Sincerely,

Sharyn Quirk
