Grade 4

Literacy

In English we have been looking at possessive apostrophes and the prefix un. In our books we write examples of words that start with un and look at how this prefix changes the meaning of the word. In TWR (The Writing Revolution) we have been looking at possessive apostrophes. We look at how a possessive apostrophe means the person owns it. During Morphology we have been focusing on the word gram. For example anagram which is where a word has been jumbled up and you have to figure out what the word is.

This Term, our Literacy block has been modified to include Morphology as an added component. Our 2-hour block consists of revision (Literacy Groups), The Writing Revolution, Morphology, Fluency, and Spelling Mastery, and our students have been doing exceptionally well in transitioning

between each activity, enjoying the structured learning experience.

Maths

In the past week we have been learning some different types of math strategies. The strategies we learnt are long division and vertical multiplication. Long division is a method of dividing multiple numbers where you divide, multiply, subtract, and bring down digits to find the quotient (answer) and remainder.

Respectful Relationships

This Term, our main focus is on Problem Solving. Our objectives for this topic include identifying communication skills that can improve relationships, describing the characteristics of cooperative behaviour, brainstorming and implementing strategies for resolving conflicts, and applying strategies for handling situations when we feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Mother's Day

A heartfelt thank you to all the mothers, fathers, and grandparents who joined us in the classroom to celebrate Mother's Day. We sincerely wish you a fantastic day this Sunday, filled with joy and love.

Religious Education

In our Religious Education (R.E.) lessons this term, we will be delving into the biblical story of the Good Samaritan as our primary focus. We aim to examine the historical context surrounding this parable, exploring the identity and significance of the Samaritans, investigating Jesus' purpose in utilising this story as a teaching tool, and reflecting on the compassionate actions of the Samaritan who stopped on their journey to assist the injured traveller.

The grade 4 students are loving visiting Kinder on Wednesdays and Fridays.
