Senior Years Exams - Year 10 and 11 Students

As we draw closer to the end of Term 2 it is down to business for the Senior Years students. Both Year 10 and Year 11 students will be starting their exams next week, while the Year 12s will be sitting the GAT Exams in Week 8.

In preparation for exams, and to develop other important study skills, both the Year 10s and Year 11s have been visited by Elevate Education this week. The team from Elevate Education took students through two different study seminars. The Year 10s engaged with a “Study Sensei” seminar which talked about study habits, and tips on how to approach learning in a positive manner. Year 11s focused on “Time Management” strategies in their seminar. Feedback from students was very positive:

  • The session was very helpful because it provided new skills for students to revise wisely for exams – Jashandeep Year 10
  • It was an engaging experience that provided helpful study strategies that allowed us to see from a different perspective how to study – Inara and Navreet Year 11

Year 12 students will have their own study skill session next week with a focus on exam performance.

Elevate Education also provide free parent seminars which are accessible via online platforms. Parents are invited to sign up to these seminars. Details are available to parents via the following link or check on Schoolbox:

GAT Information

VCE students around Victoria will be taking the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Thursday 15 June. Every student doing Unit 3 and Unit 4 is expected to sit the GAT, as it is an essential component of the VCE.

  • It tests whether they have the necessary skills required for further study and employment
  • Statistical moderation of their SACs-quality assurance
  • Assists in confirming that their Study Score is accurate
  • Used to calculate Derived Scores in the event that you are unable to complete one or more Exams due to illness, accident, or trauma

Although the GAT does not require studying, it involves preparation. Students will be tested on Literacy and Numeracy. The GAT is divided into two sessions, and both involve Reading, Writing and Numeracy. The morning session runs from 9.00 – 11.45am and the afternoon session runs from 1.15 - 3.00pm. It is important that students arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.

We wish you all the best… be calm and be awesome!!
