Mathematics

Term 2 has started and before we know it exams will be starting. This being a short term, we can see staff and students already preparing for the upcoming examinations with revision and practice exams being common themes.

After the exams, the students would be in the process of planning their subjects for next year. Teachers and Year 12 leaders are generous with their time to mentor our students to make sure they understand the different mathematics pathways offered at each year and which pathway is correct for them.

Our junior enhancement students from Years 7 and 8 are exploring advanced equations this term where they get an opportunity to have a taste of higher level of mathematics. They have been working on literal equations and simultaneous equations in the quest to apply these to problem solving questions. The students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience the content they would have otherwise learnt in Year 10.

This year we have continued to offer Mathematics tutoring on Mondays every week from 2:30pm till 3:30pm. Students are referred to this program by teachers or tutors. In class tutoring has also commenced for some classes and more classes are being added. This is a fantastic program where our students and teachers are getting the additional support in class. It is also great to see our Year 12 students using the Study hall where students are supported with study skills and strategies and also provide students with an appropriate environment to study.

Good luck to all the students doing their exams this term!
