Boorowa Central School demonstrated its active participation and unwavering support for mental health awareness by wholeheartedly embracing and engaging in Do it for Dolly Day. Dolly’s Dream aims to raise awareness about the impact of bullying and the importance of promoting kindness and empathy within schools and communities.

As part of the involvement, the students and staff undertook activities to foster a positive and compassionate atmosphere. One of the visual displays was the painting of some branches in our BBQ area. Our ‘Kindness Tree’ is a focal point for students, staff, and visitors, drawing attention to the cause and igniting conversations about the importance of standing up against bullying. Blue butterflies bore a kind and encouraging phrase to add an uplifting touch to the branch, serving as a reminder of the power of uplifting words and acts of kindness.

The kindness wall was another visual display that promoted rich discussions with students as they drew on the wall in chalk.

In addition to the visual elements, students generated funds by selling cupcakes, jellies and cookies and participated in PBL kindness lessons. You may hear infant students referring to their buckets that are either filled by ‘bucket fillers’ or reduced by ‘bucket dippers’. We are trying to be bucket fillers at Boorowa Central School.

Further amplifying the spirit of Dolly’s Dream, the school community wore blue accessories on Wednesday. The touch of blue served as another visible sign of raising awareness and beginning the ripples of change to create a safe and inclusive environment.

The SRC thank Sascha Maley and Jaimee Waters for their involvement and support in leading activities.
