Week 4 Update
The sun shone, the birds sang, and the Junior School boys finally ran their Cross-country carnival. On a day in stark contrast to our last effort, the boys from the Junior School made their way down to Hudson Park, to what would be a great event. With the course set and nothing but clear skies above us, the 10s got off to a flying start. The racing was close for the first lap of the oval and as they headed out on the track; it was anyone’s race. As the boys returned to the finish line it was a one, two finish for the Berg boys.
The 11s were next. With a very large cohort, it was necessary to have a staggered start. The boys quickly formed a tight group as they headed out onto the course. With two laps of racing, the pace was steady. With the boys stretching out over the course, it soon became a two-horse race; Coghlan coming home the victors, with Berg coming in a close second.
Finally, the 12s got a second shot at running the cross-country without rain. It was great to see all the boys able to finish the race this time and not have to be towel-dried at the end. In an evenly paced race, it was another one, two victories for the boys from Berg House.
Congratulations must go to the boys for their efforts on the day. They really put in a huge effort to gain points for their house. A big thank you also to the staff for manning checkpoints and supervising the boys as well as recording and completing finish line duties. It was great to see parents/carers out and about, watching the boys. We thank you for helping make the day a success with your support.

Winning House for 2023 | BERG |
Last week I mentioned the students who went out to CIS Rugby League trials. After the Especean was published I was made aware of a second player being selected as a shadow player. We congratulate Dominic Matulic on his selection as a shadow player for 2023.
As we fast approach the mid-point of Term 2, I will be starting the trials for our Junior House Athletics Carnival field events. At the end of this week, boys wishing to participate in shot put will need to sign up for trials. Sign-up sheets will be available outside my office. Trials for shot put will take place at lunchtimes next week and the boys will be informed via the daily announcements of their trial days. Up to ten boys from each age group will be successful in going through to our carnival.
Boys wishing to trial for shot put should have some idea of the technique involved. Improper techniques can cause injury and boys may be asked to stop after a throw in the trials to prevent this.
This weekend sees the Junior School competing in Round 4 of the Winter sport season. I wish all teams the best of luck in their games and look forward to hearing about the results.
