Term 2

Change and Transformation

This term for LLF and Numeracy, students have been learning about Earth Science and how it connects with time. Students learned about how time is measured (through analogue, digital clocks, and sundials) and investigated the different features of clocks. They enjoyed making their own clocks and labelling vocab that will support them to read the time. Students had opportunities to practise making different times with their clocks and convert between times.

Students have investigated the common misunderstanding that the sun moves instead of the Earth. They have learned that the Earth actually spins on its axis which causes night and day, and that the rays of the sun can help us determine the time. MLA created their own sundial and made observations about how the shadows moved during different times of the day. They used chalk to record and to keep track of the different times.

Digital Technology

Students have begun to explore coding by using Spheros.  Spheros are small robots that can be manipulated by inputting different types of commands. Below are some images of students learning how to control their Sphero by creating coded programs.
