Secretary's Murrung Awards

MARRUNG AWARD WINNERS – Clifton Hill Primary School Ngulu Nganjin Project

The Secretary’s Marrung Awards are an action of the Department of Education’s Aboriginal Employment Plan 2019-2026. They provide an opportunity to recognise good practice in Aboriginal education and inclusion through the recognition of practices, projects and innovations.

Clifton Hill PS are proud to be 2023 Winners in the Category of Positive Climate for Learning with our 2022 Grades 4-6 Production Project of Ngulu Nganjin.

Our thanks go out again to all our Aboriginal collaborators whose openness, insights, talents, stories, conversations, songs and time are the reason we were able to make such a successful project.

A special thanks to our Aboriginal students for being the inspiration behind our project and our two CHPS parents for their input:

Nathan Bird (and his cousin Fred Leone) for sharing the stage with our lucky students and for sharing their knowledge of Butchulla language and culture.

Mark Jones for his yarns, advice, encouragement and for sharing his Yawuru cultural perspectives.

Thanks also to our Leadership Team for the support at every level of the project.

Roz, Kate and Sophie
