'Pillow Person' sculpture

Year 9 Sculpture

During remote learning the Year 9 sculpture class has been using materials around the home to create a 3D figure.  The students got creative, stuffing their clothing using towels and pillows, to create a 'pillow person'. They added accessories and have put their pillow person in a variety of positions to create interest for the viewer. We can see the influence of Covid in figures styled with masks and one with a toilet paper head. Families reported that this task produced a lot of laughter at home!

Students have also been responding to the environmental impact of plastics on marine life. They researched Fiona Hall, Sayaka Kajita Ganz and David Edgar’s styles of plastic sculptures, and drew ideas of ocean life that is damaged by plastic rubbish. This project culminated in creating a 3D fish or other marine life from plastic found in their recycle bins.

Year 8 Visual Communication and Design

Students in Year 8 have been working on a Design Brief for a shop of their own choice. Some students chose fast food others chose clothing, skateboard, jewellery, candle or plant shop. They created an original logo for their shop and produced very pleasing results.
