From the Acting Principal

Welcome to our Week 8 edition of the Newsletter. It continues to be a great way for us to stay connected and celebrate learning – even if it is from disparate places.

As this current period of lockdown stretches on, there is a real sense that although this is a challenging time, we are all showing the resilience and grit required to just do the best we can.  The weekend announcement that we will continue in lockdown past 2 September has at least enabled us to plan for the week ahead. We will keep everyone informed as soon as possible regarding any arrangements for a return to site.

Thank you to the students and families that contributed to the Community Survey regarding Remote Learning. Your participation in this survey gives us great data about how our community is going and the opportunity to provide one piece of advice has been very enlightening. The parents and students that used the opportunity to include gratitude to our teachers was most appreciated. We have reviewed the responses and put into place some recommendations to staff to assist in balancing the time on screen for them and their students.

I am constantly encouraged by the innovation being shown in so many of our classes and the opportunities that our staff are giving students to engage in extra-curricular activities. I can see that the library is continuing to make resources available to students in the form of ebooks and audiobooks. If you haven’t tried one out yet, set yourself a challenge for this week – sit back and enjoy a book.

Week 8 of Term means that the holidays are not too far away so it is a good time to make sure that you are completing as much as you can this term by setting achievable goals and making contact with your teachers if you need support. With Parent Student Teacher Conversations happening over the next two weeks, it is an opportunity to reflect on your learning and set goals for term 4.

My best wishes to you all.
