Calm us in this time of pandemic

negotiating the new realities of this time.  Amen

SUCCESS DEFINED DIFFERENTLY

‘It’s not about winning at the Olympic Games. It’s about trying to win. The motto is “faster, higher, stronger”, not “fastest, highest, strongest”. Sometimes, it’s the trying that matters.’ –Bronte Barratt, Australian swimmer & 2008 gold medallist

Watching our athletes shine at the Tokyo Olympics gave our country much-needed inspiration and hope right when we dearly needed it.

Our lucky country consistently excels in the world of sport. Australia can hold its own even when competing against juggernauts such as the United States, Russia, and China. In the end, Australia placed sixth in the medal tally. There were exceptional performances from our medal-winning athletes competing in swimming, diving, kayak, canoeing, rowing, sailing, surfing, decathlon, BMX, skateboarding, beach volleyball, cycling, equestrian, hockey, tennis, javelin, boxing and more.

However, not all inspiring stories ended on the winner’s podium. Some competitors scored personal bests. Others overcame the agony of defeat to support their teammates.

Our Olympic athletes can teach us much about the integrity that truly defines success. Knowing that we have the encouragement and support of our community when the odds seem insurmountable or when the challenge seems too great, success truly lies in the trying.

We salute all our parents, carers, and staff members who are giving their best go as they juggle their normal obligations alongside the demands of remote learning during the last lockdown.

God Bless,

Mrs Marg Blythman
