NAPLAN News

Those of you who have children in year seven and year nine will have recently received a NAPLAN report in the mail. The mention of NAPLAN can spark some very interesting discussions and be somewhat polarising in certain circles. Regardless of one’s philosophical position in relation to these tests, a key skill we continue to encourage students to embrace is to always do their best and take pride in what they do regardless of the type of task, or test.

After missing NAPLAN testing last year, it is useful to receive a snapshot of students’ capability in relation to literacy and numeracy outcomes. It was very pleasing to see above state-average growth in our year nine students for Reading, Writing and Numeracy. Our year seven students achieved some very positive results also, with just over 96% of them completing the NAPLAN tests.

What parents and the whole school community can be very proud of is the application and resilience each of our students from all year levels have shown – and continue to display – in relation to their engagement, learning and assessments.
