Year 6 Spotlight

Remote Learning Reflections

Going back into online learning wasn’t the ideal plan, but there were definitely positives along the way. At the end of each day, we had a fun afternoon meeting where we would play a class game such as Kahoot, Drawpoly, Scattergories and Find the Item.

Some of the work was a challenge and with the help of our teachers we always got through it, and we loved watching BTN every Thursday! It was also fun to kick back and watch the Olympics after a day's work, GO THE AUSSIES!!!

The teachers made online learning really fun for us!

Back to remote learning we went. We felt a mix of emotions – frustrated and scared. We were sad to not be able to be working with our classmates. It was a smooth start because we had done this before. We loved that we could stay in our pyjamas longer, eat hot food and we also had some fun creative activities.

We started learning about fractions, and each day would start our day with a whole class meeting and begin maths together – this was really helpful. Some of us learnt to build our own website, how to code a game and started thinking about writing our memoirs for our yearbook.

We are so happy to be back in the classroom working with other people, we had a lot to catch up on. We can’t believe we are halfway through Year 6 and can’t wait for graduation!

It's been great to be back at school and seeing all our friends. It's easier knowing that Jourdan, our teacher, is here and knows what to do. It is so much easier working at school than at home because we have all the resources, books, and the right environment.

We have loved playing with the Sphero, making paths for them and programming them, getting new literature circles and catching up on our specialists.
