 7 & 8 

Dear Families,

It was an enormous pleasure to attend assemblies at year 7 an 8 last week. Across the board it is very clear that students are doing their utmost to maintain connection to their classwork, and to stay maintain positive learning relationships with their teachers. I want to thank our teachers for the enormous commitment they show to our students every day. Importantly, this is not just about learning. Regular contact with their teachers that are working hard to support, encourage and check in on them builds a sense of confidence, achievement, and enjoyment during these unfamiliar circumstances. The main feature of the Assemblies were the awards ceremonies that featured Honours, Sport, Art, Community and Principal awards. A hearty congratulations to all recipients of these awards who have demonstrated outstanding achievement as well as reflecting college values. All students at the college who do their best should feel justly proud as part of the Lalor Secondary Community. It was particularly heart-warming to note the high level of support for their peers shown by lots of online applause, hearts and thumbs up. Congratulations also to the year 7 and 8 teams who worked hard to organise the assemblies.

These experiences remind me that even though we are not together at school at the moment, we are very much a community. We can be grateful for each other and look forward to that time when we return to site.
