Ms. Julie Ryan

Hello!

I hope all of our students, staff and parents are keeping well during this lockdown period. I can certainly say that I am missing the interactions with our school community that we are able to have when onsite. Having said that, I am incredibly proud of our students, staff and parents as we all work together to face the challenges we face together.

The subject selection process has concluded with students having to have their selections due by Friday 13th of August. Now the exciting work will begin to develop the Teaching and Learning program for 2022. I thank all of the staff involved in this process.

Applications have closed for the ABCN mentor program, but there is an opportunity for students to apply for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Award. I strong encourage those students who wish to go to Melbourne University to read my Compass post about this. There will be a Senior Scholarship that all Year 10 students can apply for once the Kwong Lee Dow process has concluded.

I have been so proud of our college community as we reach out to each other in creative ways to maintain the important connections that we share. I love scrolling through the LSC facebook page for samples of student work, our staff sharing their own images of stories they are reading or doing dances to try and keep spirits high. Now thanks to Mr Canigula, we also have a Strava run group. No one can beat our Year 10 student Allen Tran who is already up to 80kms! This group and our staff and student efforts really inspired me to get the runners back out. Also, as Dunlop are last on the points score board at the moment, with significant house points for each km, I feel that I have to do whatever I can to help our house beat Patterson who are at the top of the leaderboard, AGAIN!
